Tea Vs Coffee - Which Side Are You On?

Apart from water, tea and coffee are among the world's most popular beverages. As for which beverage do people drink the most? That topic always calls for a long discussion. Several surveys suggest that tea is the world's number one hot beverage. Would coffee drinkers agree?

No chance of tossing a coin on that.

Let us get to know these two beverages that often go neck to neck in the race between the most wanted drink in the world. And at the end of your reading, you may hopefully decide which one suits your palate better.

Coffee is a brewed drink prepared from roasted seeds otherwise known as coffee beans. The seeds are the product of a small evergreen bush plant called Coffea. It is believed to have originated from Ethiopia and had spread to the Middle East and Europe.

Many of us crave for coffee in the morning. And if we don't get to start our day with a freshly-brewed cup of hot steaming coffee, the day may become bitter. Coffee is known to contain caffeine which is not completely bad unless taken in excessive amount. It has antioxidants, essential to fight the process of aging. Caffeine found in coffee may help lessen the risk of Parkinson's disease by enhancing the dopamine supply in the body. It is a neurotransmitter that is essential in the functions of the brain. Caffeine also acts as a stimulant. People who need to stay up late often drink coffee to keep them awake.

Tea, on the other hand, is generally grown in tropical and sub-tropical climates. It is an exquisite beverage made from the processed leaf of a plant called Camelia Sinensis. The preparation of tea is done in various methods such as brewing or it can come in the form of a tea bag that can simply be soaked in hot water.

Studies suggest that tea has many health benefits and one that is most popular is the amount of antioxidant present in tea. It helps fight cancer as well as the natural aging process. Some tea contains Vitamin C that helps fight and prevent illnesses such as colds. Tea also contains polyphones that help in the strengthening of teeth and lessening plaque. It also aids in the process of digestion by boosting the flow of juices in the stomach.

The most obvious difference in coffee and tea is their taste. Other differences are their flavor, manner of preparation and recipes.

The similarity that coffee and tea share is that both contain caffeine. However, the amount varies considerably based in the single serving of these beverages. Both plants grown into huge trees but kept trimmed just like the height of a fern.

Tea vs. coffee-which side are you on? Oh well, it's a pretty hard decision to make. Both are very different beverages, each with a distinctive history. Whether you prefer tea or coffee, it only boils down to one thing: It's hard not to love either one.
